I was very excited to add an 8 reales coin to my collection however when I received this coin I was very disappointed. The coin had been harshly cleaned with hair lines visible on the obverse, rim damage where it seems the coin was dropped twice and isn't completely round anymore and there was PVC damage on the rim. There were two chopmarks present, one being incredibly tiny and the other can easily be mistaken as just normal damge to the coin. I ordered through APMEX to avoid this sort of thing but if they consider a harshly cleaned coin to be "avg circulation", I will not be purchasing from them in the future.
- Bottom Line
- No, I would not recommend this to a friend

The price was a little high, and sadly disappointed when received. It had no detectable chop marks. BUT... I contacted Apmex, got a great replacement and am very satisfied. Received an 1808 in better condition and with 10+ Chop Marks. Imagine the history! Very staisfied.
- Pros
- Collectible (lower mintage)
- Bottom Line
- Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.

I received a 1787, the coin has about 11 chop marks in it. I love looking at it and just thinking about all the hands and places that this piece of eight has been in! Extremely happy with this purchase!

- Attractive Design
