For a brief period in the 1860s, European powers, particularly France, attempted to reestablish the Mexican Empire. Maximilian I, an Austrian Archduke and the only ruler of the ill fated attempt, is featured on this coin.
Coin Highlights:- Struck at the Mexico City Mint during the rule of Emperor Maximilian I (1864-1867).
- Mintage of 2,147,675.
- This coin is in Very Fine condition.
- Obverse: Bust of Maximilian I right.
- Reverse: Crowned arms with swords crossed behind and flanked by griffins. Denomination and date below.
