Pre-1965 90% Silver coins, sometimes referred to as junk Silver or scrap Silver, are a great way to start your Silver investments. These Silver coins were pulled from circulation with the introduction of Copper/nickel clad coins and the rising demand of Silver. The public saved them for their 90% Silver content as a rainy day fund they can fall back on.

I've bought bags from another supplier for years, but they recently went out of business. Iv'e bought other items from APMEX before, so decided to buy a bag. WOW. What a difference. The other company sent coins that were recognizable. Very few slick ones. I even had a bag with over $50 of recent proof dates, in great shape. APMEX sent over 40% of all the coins as slick Liberties. Very disappointed. Price was about the same (APMEX was always a minute bit higher than BD) but I won't buy any more bags from APMEX. Been buying ON Craig's List since, and getting MUCH better quality coins, and I bid at the same price or a little lower than what APMEX is offering, so I am not overpaying. I'm done with APMEX on bags though.

My collection of silver bullion ranges from a 1000oz bar to silver American Eagles, and now I've included some of this "junk" silver. It's an easy and economical way to add silver to your collection, and the up side is that if the US ever has to have currency backed by precious metals, these coins have already been used as currency in the past, so the transition would be smooth. These coins are easy to deal with, they come in a heavy duty cloth sack, and they are sealed. Easy way to add over 350 oz to your stores.
- Pros
- Easy to Sell
- Collectible (lower mintage)
- Recognized Brand
- Value (low premium over spot)
- Attractive Design
- Bottom Line
- Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.

90% US coins are one of the greatest ways to own silver, highly recognizable form, lowest premiums, and produced by the US government mint. The ability to purchase $500 face value bags without paying a premium to $1000 bags is great.
- Bottom Line
- Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.
