    Currency Highlights:
    • 1890 $2 Treasury Note featuring Major General James B. McPherson, Fr#353.
    • Part of the “Coin Note” series, redeemable for silver or gold coin upon demand.
    • Certified by PCGS as About Uncirculated 58 with Premium Paper Quality (PPQ).
    • Obverse: Portrait of Union Civil War General James B. McPherson at left.
    • Reverse: Ornate design in rich green ink with large “TWO DOLLARS” denomination.
    • Rosecrans/Huston signature - Friedberg #353

The 1890 $2 Treasury Note, popularly nicknamed the “McPherson Note,” is one of the most historic designs in U.S. currency, issued during the short-lived “Coin Note” series. Featuring Civil War General James B. McPherson on the front, these notes were authorized by the Act of July 14, 1890, and could be redeemed in either silver or gold coin.

This example, certified AU-58 PPQ by PCGS, displays excellent originality with strong paper quality and eye appeal, falling just short of Uncirculated. A scarce high-grade survivor, it is an exceptional addition for collectors of 19th-century U.S. currency.
