Series 1914 Federal Reserve Notes marked the first issuance of this note type following the passage of the Federal Reserve Act in 1913. That legislation created the centralized banking system and standardized currency still used today. The series included denominations ranging from five dollars to ten thousand dollars and districts designated A through L, representing Boston through San Francisco.
