Emperor Phocas (602-610 AD) was the last Emperor of the Byzantine Empire before it fell to the intrusion of the Lombards in 610. He reigned from 602-610 AD. The Byzantine Empire was established in 324 AD by Emperor Constantine I after he overcame Emperor Licinius at the Battle of Chrysopolis. The Byzantine Empire achieved its height under Emperor Justinian I (527-565 AD) when it recaptured much of the former Western Roman Empire, including North Africa and Italy.

Emperor Phocas was a usurper and not favored with the people or the Senate. He was ultimately overthrown and executed. Emperor Phocas is highlighted on this Byzantine solidus coin, which was circulated during his reign. The reverse of this Byzantine Gold coin highlights an angel standing with a P cross. This exceptional coin, struck during Phocas' reign in Constantinople, is graded in Mint State condition by NGC and encapsulated to guard your investment.
