To fund military operations and assert legitimacy, Jackson authorized the Missouri Defense Bonds, a series of notes secured by "a pledge of all the State Revenues" and printed by Keatinge & Ball of Columbia, South Carolina, the Confederacy's most prominent security printer. The series spanned several denominations from $1 through $100, with this $100 note (Cr. 19) standing as the highest denomination issued by the Confederate shadow government of Missouri. - Specifications
