Red Seal 1914 Federal Reserve Notes in any grade are a challenge to find, Add this piece of early Federal Reserve history to your cart today!
The 1914 Federal Reserve Notes were among the very first issued under the newly created Federal Reserve System, established by the Federal Reserve Act of 1913 in response to the financial panics of the early 20th century. Series 1914 Federal Reserve Notes were the first of this type issued after the Federal Reserve Act passed in 1913, establishing the banking system and uniform currency that exists to this day. Denominations from Five through Ten Thousand Dollars, and districts A through L, Boston through San Francisco, were established. Red Seal notes were issued simultaneously with Blue Seal notes but in far smaller quantities, making them considerably scarcer today. The Cleveland Federal Reserve District, designated "D," was one of twelve regional banks created to bring stability and uniformity to American banking. - Specifications
