The 1929 Type 1 $10 National Bank Note from Scranton, Pennsylvania is more than just a collectible, it is a direct piece of American industrial history. Charter 77, one of Pennsylvania's earliest national bank charters, was founded in 1863 at the heart of Scranton's industrial boom, backed by the very corporations that built the city, including the Lackawanna Iron and Coal Company and the Delaware, Lackawanna and Western Railroad. After a unique journey through liquidation, reorganization, and reclaiming its original charter number in 1911, this bank's story is as rare as the notes it issued. With only $10 and $20 notes printed for both Type 1 and Type 2 during the small size era, surviving examples are limited and demand is strong.
