Gold Certificates were once reedemable in gold and are a great part of economic history. These notes are always desirable for their Gold seal and serial numbers. Add one of these great conversation pieces to your cart today!

The 1928 $20 Gold Certificate was once redeemable for $20 in gold coin at the U.S. Treasury, as stated on the note itself. These certificates circulated as part of America's gold-backed monetary system until the Great Depression. In 1933, President Franklin D. Roosevelt suspended domestic gold redemption through Executive Order 6102 and related banking measures. The following year, the Gold Reserve Act of 1934 ended private ownership of most monetary gold and permanently halted the redemption of Gold Certificates for gold by the public, making these notes an enduring reminder of a unique chapter in U.S. monetary history.
