I decided to purchase some of these 40% Halves as part of a larger order, and received a really nice spread of dates. Some of the coins were also in high XF to AU condition, including a '68 with virtually no signs of circulation at all. Many also had numerous interesting toning colours, which was a nice surprise too.

So signs in stores say there is a coin shortage. Grocery stores for now wont take cash, even if you have exact change.The 40% silver is not as worn as the 90%. A half priced now is about 6x the face. Everybody knows what an American coin is, and the half piece. In a pinch you could spend it as is. If value goes down, you still have face. You cant go wrong.
