These California Fractional Gold replicas were made from the late 1800s into the 1950s by jewelers, and sold as novelty pieces. They were made from a variety of compositions including brass, gilt brass, 10 karat Gold, and 14 karat Gold.
They range in diameter from 10.5 millimeters to 20 millimeters. They feature an Indian on the obverse and a wreath or bear on the reverse. These are easily identified as replica's since they do not have the denomination such as Cents, DOL, or Dollar.
