This note depicts an allegorical representation of Ceres, the Roman goddess of agriculture, who is seated on bales of cotton which was the primary cash crop of the South. To the left is a sailor in contemporary dress.
Currency Highlights:- From the first series of notes to be issued by the Confederate States in 1861 during the Civil War.
- Housed in an archival quality currency sleeve.
- A decent note in Very Fine condition that has normal wear and some staining.
- Catalogued as T-36. Hand-signed and numbered.
- Face: Nice vignettes of the goddess Ceres seated on a bale of cotton at top center, with a sailor in contemporary garb at left.
- Back: Blank reverse.
