Pre-1965 90% Silver coins, sometimes referred to as junk Silver or scrap Silver, are a great way to start your Silver investments. These Silver coins were pulled from circulation with the introduction of copper/nickel clad coins and the rising demand of Silver. The public saved them for their 90% Silver content as a rainy day fund they can fall back on.

Invest in Kennedy Half Dollars made of a Precious Metal that increases in value with Silver demand.

While buying Silver coins, bars and rounds creates part of the demand for the Precious Metal, industrial applications and Silver jewelry and décor account for the lion’s share of demand for Silver. In 2014, the demand for Silver amounted to 1.07 billion ounces, with 196 million ounces used for Silver coin and bar production. When you buy Silver coins, you are buying a Precious Metal that is growing in demand as more uses are discovered for this Precious Metal that contains unique properties, such as being able to withstand extreme temperatures, conduct electricity and reflect light. Silver prices are affected by the overall demand for Silver, and the value of the Precious Metal increases when the demand is greater than the supply.

Save Kennedy Half Dollars and other Precious Metals in secure storage.

After buying Kennedy Half Dollars, you may wonder how best to store your Precious Metal investment. Browse the inventory at APMEX for coin tubes to hold your 90% Silver half dollars and protect your Silver coins from external moisture by adding a dehumidifying desiccant to your container. We also have storage boxes for larger Silver coin purchases, which can also be used to hold Silver bars and rounds. Another option for Silver coin storage is to store your Silver coin investment offsite with Citadel Global Depository Services, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of APMEX managed by Brink’s.

Kennedy Half Dollars were authorized for production just weeks after President John F. Kennedy's assassination.

Nice mix of 1964 Kennedy Halves

Was this review helpful? Yes/ No

Bought these to stack some 90% silver. Exactly half of coins were in very good shape, shiny and not worn, The other half were not so much worn but dirty and were in circulation for a while. 2 of the coins in better shape were beginning to tone. My 4 star rating reflects that this was a good transaction.

  • Easy to Sell

An OK lot.

An OK lot--3 out of 40 were significantly blackened, but 4 were AU--so no real complaint. I'm always satisfied with my several transactions with APMEX!

Better Than "AVG CIRC"

Was this review helpful? Yes/ No

I'd say none of mine ever saw the drawer of a cash register, some may qualify as MS. I buy these as "investments you can hold", but I like them to be in good shape too (and these are).

Nice Roll - Excellent Quality

Was this review helpful? Yes/ No

Nice clean roll of Kennedy's. No surprises - all in the AU range per PCGS Photograde, with a few low-end uncirculated examples in the bunch. Not a single problem coin - no dinged, dented, scratched, or cleaned coins. A nice roll.

beware of poor condition coins

Was this review helpful? Yes/ No

be very careful...of the 20 "Average Circulation" coins i purchased, one coin in particular was in super bad shape. It is literally almost black in color. It looks like someone tried to fry it on a frying pan, or maybe put it into a fire. a handful of the others had this blackish grime stuck on them. I'm going to try to clean them with some silver cleaner, but I know the brown/black one is well beyond the point of revival. I would not order anything through this company again. There is not quality control going on here. A one star might be too high here.

Merchant response: Thank you for writing. We are very sorry to hear of the dissapointment wth the quality of these Avg Cir coins. Our Post Shipment team will contact you soon to assist.
