These coins are highly desirable for their outstanding design features. Many of these coins made their way into "March of Dimes" folders to help support a cure for polio. Most years and mint marks are readily available to collectors.

    Coin Highlights:
    • Each coin contains .900 fine silver, making these dimes a solid investment for those looking to add tangible assets to their portfolio.
    • Each $50 face value bag includes 500 Mercury Dimes, providing 35.75 ounces of pure silver.
Mercury dimes were minted between 1916 and 1945, a period celebrated for its artistic innovation in American coinage.
    • Obverse: Features Adolph Weinman’s iconic depiction of Lady Liberty wearing a Phrygian cap, a symbol of liberty and freedom, with wings representing freedom of thought.
    • Reverse: Displays a fasces and an olive branch, symbolizing America’s readiness to defend itself and reflecting the nation’s desire for peace.
    • Minted at the Philadelphia, Denver, and San Francisco Mints, each coin in this collection holds a piece of history from the different mints of the United States.
    • The dates on these dimes are determined by stock on hand and offer a range of years from this historic period, adding variety to your collection.
    • Known as "junk silver" or "scrap silver," these pre-1965 coins were pulled from circulation when the U.S. moved to copper/nickel clad coins. They were saved for their high silver content, serving as a practical investment and a hedge against inflation.

    90% Silver Mercury Dime Series
The 90% Silver Mercury Dime is more than just a coin; it’s a piece of American history. First struck in 1916, this dime was part of a broader movement to beautify American coinage. Its detailed design and high silver content have made it a staple for collectors and investors. With each dime, you’re holding a piece of the past, whether as a collector's item or a silver investment.

    Mercury Dime Design

The Mercury Dime, designed by Adolph A. Weinman, is one of the most beloved and recognizable coins in American numismatics. The obverse, depicting Lady Liberty with a winged Phrygian cap, was intended to symbolize liberty of thought. The reverse features a fasces, representing strength and unity, crossed with an olive branch, symbolizing peace. This design reflects the complex and often conflicting values of America during the early 20th century—a nation prepared for war, yet always striving for peace.

    The Renaissance of American Coinage

These Mercury Dimes were minted during a period known as "The Renaissance of American Coinage." This era, spanning the early 20th century, was marked by a push to improve the artistry of U.S. coin designs. The Mercury Dime is a standout example, embodying the era's ideals of beauty, symbolism, and craftsmanship.

Why Choose the 90% Silver Mercury Dime Bag?
This $50 Face Value Bag of 90% Silver Mercury Dimes offers an investment in silver and a connection to a significant period in American history. The historical importance, artistic design, and substantial silver content make this an excellent choice for collectors and investors alike. Secure a tangible piece of America's rich numismatic legacy by adding bags of Silver Mercury dimes to your collection today.

    The U.S. Mint
The U.S. Mint has been the producer of some of the most iconic coins in U.S. history. The Mercury Dime series is another testament to the Mint’s craftsmanship, offering a timeless piece of American numismatic heritage.

It just feels so good

Another great purchase from Apmex. Everything’s as advertised. I told myself this was a value buy because of the seasonal discount and recent pullback in spot price. The truth is, I just love these older coins. Even the worn ones are cool because they cause me to wonder about all the people who have had it before me.

History in your hand

Was this review helpful? Yes/ No

These dimes are amazing to hold in your hand. Hard to believe that one 90% silver dime sells for 20 times it’s face value. Holding dollars over time is a guaranteed loser. CDs, certificates of deposit should be more so called certified depreciation.

  • Pros
  • Attractive Design
  • Bottom Line
  • Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.

Excellent bag of Mercs

Great addition to the stack. Found 4 Barbers and 3 Rosie's mixed with the Mercs. Most pieces have a legible date, not many slicks.

Very pleased with purchase

I love Mercury dimes, always have. And when the price of silver dropped a tad, and they had a special on "junk" silver on special, I took the opportunity to purchase a $50 dollar face-value of Mercury Dimes. And yes, you will get "dirty fingers" when you go through the bag of dimes but it was worth it. I only got maybe 10 dimes that were slicks, though I could "just" make out the year if I held the dime at the right angle. No biggie for me though. I'm glad that I'm just able to purchase these (and quarters) still. Catch them when they go on sale, buy what you can---while you can, and put them away for a "rainy day". Thanks APMEX, keep up the great work.

Exact Coin Amount, Though Not All Mercury

Was this review helpful? Yes/ No

The bag had 500 dimes, however, three were Roosevelts and one was a severely damaged/corroded Mercury (obverse not recognizable). Varying dates with mostly late years, but did have a few 1916-1919s, though they showed a lot of wear and are not gradable. A few were still in VG condition but that's 10-20 of 500. Great buy for silver value, not for collector. Will need to return a few coins.
