Got one from 1851 "Good" condition!

Was this review helpful? Yes/ No

Looks like someone crimped the coin with calipers at some point in time over the past hundred years or so, but other than that came in for sure "Good" condition – totally legible and from 1851, which is super cool. I actually put a hole in mine to wear, so all in all totally worth it. Coin is smaller than a dime (in diameter) but has a nice weight to it due to the gold of course.

  • Pros
  • Value (low premium over spot)
  • Attractive Design
  • Collectible (lower mintage)
  • Easy to Sell
  • Recognized Brand
  • Bottom Line
  • Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.

Affordable gold, but not like in the pictures.

Was this review helpful? Yes/ No

“Damaged” is an accurate description. The coin is holed and the design on either side is completely unrecognizable. I can not give this a negative review in good faith, because the description did say it would be in very poor condition, which it is. I did expect to see the coin’s original design, as in the pictures, however mine has been completely smoothed over and engraved with designs on both sides. If you want something that is a coin made of gold, you could consider this. If you want to see a Liberty Head gold dollar, I’d look elsewhere.

  • Pros
  • Value (low premium over spot)
  • Cons
  • Unattractive Design
  • Bottom Line
  • No, I would not recommend this to a friend
