Great roll!

Was this review helpful? Yes/ No

I am extremely pleased with the roll I just received. 18 unique coins, including a nice mix of mint marks. One or two had partial rims on the reverse but overall these were definitely as advertised, most grading at a G+/VG. I even got an 1899 with nearly full Liberty. Most were very common dates, but this roll was a great way to fill in holes in my collection!

  • Pros
  • Value (low premium over spot)
  • Attractive Design
  • Recognized Brand
  • Cons
  • Common (higher mintage)
  • Bottom Line
  • Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.

Have been to this well one time too many

Was this review helpful? Yes/ No

Have bought over 20 rolls of Barber Halves from Apmex over the years and was not disappointed until now. First the good Let me state first that the coins were all full rim on both sides. The condition of the coins was as advertised. The deliveryprocess was also excellent as usual. What's the problem? How about out of eighty coins 18 1912's and zero 1892-1899. almost all the rest 06-09 Simply put Apmex has gotten stingy on their coin mix. Only9 coins dated between 00-04 all P except a 00o. The saving grace a 1910P. Otherwise 2 stars. Maybe I've been spoiled by previous orders but this one was mostly a dud.

Rolls to books

Was this review helpful? Yes/ No

At the time, APMEX was selling a G-roll and a much more expensive F-roll. With the two rolls, I was able to fill 20 holes in a Barber half book I was starting out. I lined up five from each roll with identical dates to compare and the F vs. G improvement was evident. It was a good way to start a book, but now, I just buy individual coins since the price isn't much more for common dates and you would never get some of the better dates/mints in a common roll. It was a good start.

Very disappointed

Was this review helpful? Yes/ No

Several coins were AG with obverse lettering worn into the edges and no defined rims....not one was "better" than good, not one. Definitely never buying these from Apmex again.

Second Apmex purchase

Was this review helpful? Yes/ No

As was the case with the roll of Barber quarters(good or better) that I first purchased through Apmex, I collect Barbers for both their silver content and numismatic value. Barbers, in general, represent a lower mintage series with a reasonable premium over spot. Upon first glance I was not all that pleased with the roll. Ten of the coins were worn to the point that the rim on the reverse and/or the lettering around the rim "United States of America Half Dollar" was partially or wholly missing. However, I was both impressed and pleased with their customer service. After contacting Apmex they offered to exchange the ten coins that were unacceptable (insofar as being classified as "good or better"). They did so expeditiously, down time between receiving the initial shipment and the replacement coins was less than a business week. Also worth mentioning, the replacement coins were more than satisfactory. I have given my order 5 out of 5 stars because of Apmex's exceptional CS and in the end the roll of halves was what I expected and then some.

  • Pros
  • Collectible (lower mintage)
  • Bottom Line
  • Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.

many of the coins not full rims,

Was this review helpful? Yes/ No

I really wanted good quality Barber halfs. the description says good or better. and full rims on both sides. quite a few coins in the roll were not full rims, especially on the reverse side. From all my purchasing experience from APMEX this was the only one that was under satisfactory. I might not recommend this product. but I would still recommend APMEX overall

Not as advertized

Was this review helpful? Yes/ No

I bought these with the understanding they would be full rims on both sides as the add indicated and was very disappointed that only 24 out of the 40 I bought actually had full rims on both sides. 40% of the coins I bought did not have full rims so needlessly to say I am very disappointed with my purchase and will definitely never buy these coins again. I "would not" recommend anyone buy these if a person wants full rim coins on both sides as 16 of my coins were actually junk silver coins.

SILVER STACKER DIVERSIFICATIN

Was this review helpful? Yes/ No

WHEN DIVERSIFYING IN BUYING SILVER, IT IS FUN T BUY A PIECE OF HISTORY THE PREMIUM OF THIS COIN IS NEGLIGIBLY ABOVE A GOV'T PREMIUM BULLION COIN.. I'M SOMEWHAT CONCERNED THAT WHEN THE SHTF, THERE WILL BE SOME COUNTERFEIT SILVER AS THE PRICE SKYROCKETS. THERE WILL BE NO COUNTERFEITING OF OLD SILVER BARBER HALVES-THE WEAR OF THE COIN WOULD BE HARD TO REPLICATE.
