- Contains Copper/Nickel bonded to an inner core of pure Copper.
- Individual coins come in protective packaging.
- Designed by John Flanagan and William Cousins.
- Obverse: Features the profile of George Washington.
- Designed by Thomas D. Rogers.
- Reverse: Depicts the outline of the state and three symbols, Palmetto tree, the Carolina Wren, the Yellow Jessamine. The Palmetto State the state's nickname and a star that indicates the state's capital, Columbia is also shown.
