Pre-1965 90% Silver coins, sometimes referred to as junk Silver or scrap Silver, are a great way to start your Silver investments. These Silver coins were pulled from circulation with the introduction of copper/nickel clad coins and the rising demand of Silver. The public saved them for their 90% Silver content as a rainy day fund they can fall back on.

These are certainly circulated. However, I could read the date on all of them. Some appeared au. Variety of dates from late teens to mid forties. Even had a random barber in there. I buy again.

don't expect much more than silver blanks.

Was this review helpful? Yes/ No

pictures and many reviews indicated I might get some coins that were identifiable as halves. few of these are anything but smooth. A few you can see a date, but about half are so smooth that it would be better to buy silver blanks to be sure that the silver was there. .

Very nice coins!

I would have to say that I am impressed with my first roll. I got a 1918 that could pass for 'fine', and a 1923-S that is perfectly gradable. I'd buy more rolls.

Not As Nice As I Had Hoped

Was this review helpful? Yes/ No

"Average Circulated" is always a risk with this type of coin compared to say, Kennedy or Franklin half-dollars. These coins had plenty of time to get worn - and they did. All were in the 1940's (I think) except for a single 1917. These all graded a solid Good to Fine, with a couple having rim dings. Two were below AG03 using PCGS Photograde (as low as they go on their website) with nothing remotely discernible for a date, and one 1940 had serious rim damage. I would consider these three culls. You'd be better off with a higher condition for Walkers than "average circulated" if you want this type of coin, or a different type of half-dollar. I've found the average circulated Franklins from APMEX to be much better than expected.
