Product Details
This extraordinary collection features twenty Morgan Silver Dollars, each certified in superb Mint State-63 condition by PCGS. Spanning the pivotal years of 1878-1904, this set represents an era of American spirit of economic and artistic evolution.
The Morgan Silver Dollar stands as a towering emblem of late 19th and early 20th-century America, a coin born from economic strife and westward expansion, now presented in an exceptional collection of twenty diverse dates and mint marks. Each of these magnificent one-dollar coins, meticulously graded MS-63 by PCGS, offers a glimpse into a nation grappling with its monetary identity following the contentious "Crime of '73" and the subsequent legislative push for silver coinage embodied by the Bland-Allison Act of 1878.
Conceived by the prodigious English-born U.S. Mint Assistant Engraver George T. Morgan, the dollar's design is a masterwork of classical artistry and American symbolism. The obverse presents a resplendent profile of Lady Liberty, her likeness reputedly modeled by Philadelphia schoolteacher Anna Willess Williams, adorned with a Phrygian cap symbolizing freedom and an agricultural wreath of cotton and wheat. The reverse proudly displays a majestic eagle with wings outstretched, clutching arrows and an olive branch—a powerful device that has captivated collectors for generations. Each coin in this set, with its .900 fine silver purity and a total fine silver content of 15.468 troy ounces across the twenty pieces (each containing 0.77344 troy ounces of fine silver), measures 38.1 mm in diameter and 3.1 mm in thickness, providing a substantial feel in hand.
This curated collection transcends mere accumulation, offering a diverse array of mint marks from Philadelphia (no mint mark), New Orleans ('O'), San Francisco ('S'), and Carson City ('CC'), representing the varied origins of these historical treasures. With mintages varying dramatically across dates and facilities, each coin tells a unique story of its production and journey through time. The MS-63 grade from PCGS assures a superb uncirculated condition, with good strike and luster, allowing for an appreciation of Morgan's intricate design details. For the discerning collector seeking to delve into the rich tapestry of American history through its coinage, or to enhance a precious metals portfolio with certified numismatic assets, this collection of 1878-1904 Morgan Dollars represents an unparalleled opportunity to acquire a cornerstone of U.S. numismatics, embodying a period of profound national development and artistic innovation.

I bought 4 sets of these for my grand children for the upcoming Christmas. My thoughst were being they were PCGS graded and in holders they would be easy to liquidate should the need arise. Meanwhile they are in fact a piece of American history, beautiful coins and when considering the years to college for the children they might just be worth quite a bit more than the money sitting in a low yield CD
- Pros
- Recognized Brand
- Easy to Sell
- Attractive Design
- Bottom Line
- Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.
