The Eisenhower Dollar was the first dollar minted after the Peace Dollar that was intended for circulation and commemorates the great accomplishments of General/President Eisenhower. May or may not come in the original capsule as issued from the mint.

Coin Highlights:
  • Contains .3161 oz. of Silver.
  • Multiples of 20 are packaged in protective plastic tubes. All other coins will be in protective packaging.
  • Obverse: Features a striking profile of General/President Dwight David Eisenhower facing left with the legend of “LIBERTY” above his head. Underneath his chin is the motto “IN GOD WE TRUST” with the bicentennial date of “1776-1976” at the base of his profile. Mint marks appear below Eisenhower’s neck above the third and fourth number in the date of the coin.
  • Reverse: Proudly displays the Liberty Bell in front of an image of the full moon and the legend of “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” is separated from the denomination of “ONE DOLLAR” by two stars. To the right of the Liberty Bell and underneath the moon is the motto “E PLURIBUS UNUM.” The Type-1 Ike dollars is easily distinguishable by the bold lettering on the Reverse of the coin.
  • This issue features the mint mark “S” for the San Francisco Mint just above the date.

Great Coin!!!

Great coin, exactly as advertised. No blemishes, scuffs or nicks to be found. I've always liked the reverse design on the 76' Eisenhower - the Liberty Bell backed by a full moon. They don't design coins like this anymore! Great service as always from APMEX!

An Excellent Piece For Any Collection

It took two times ordering this coin (First time not from here as I was reluctant to chance it, so I ordered this from APMEX this time because I researched APMEX a bit more) but the wait was worth it. This 1976 (S) dollar came in a mirror like finish that (At least on my coin) showed no tarnish, or spots, or oxidization... In fact it was in such near perfect condition I was sweating bullets moving it from the protective flap sleeve APMEX included into its final No-PVC Hard Plastic 2x2 holder and the coin is a beauty... One con though, as people will point out, the mint made a LOT of bicentennial coins, but even still it is worth it...

  • Pros
  • Attractive Design
  • Collectible (lower mintage)
  • Easy to Sell
  • Mint Condition
  • Cons
  • Common (higher mintage)
  • Bottom Line
  • Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.
