Coin Highlights:
- Contains .3161 oz. of Silver.
- Multiples of 20 are packaged in protective plastic tubes. All other coins will be in protective packaging.
- Obverse: Features a striking profile of General/President Dwight David Eisenhower facing left with the legend of “LIBERTY” above his head. Underneath his chin is the motto “IN GOD WE TRUST” with the date at the base of his profile. Mint marks appear below Eisenhower’s neck above the third and fourth number in the date of the coin.
- Reverse: Reflects the design of the Apollo XI’s insignia. Depicted is an eagle flying over the surface of the moon with an olive branch firmly grasped in his claws with a small Earth turned so that North America can be seen. Thirteen stars surround the eagle’s flight. The legend at the top displays “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” with the motto “E PLURIBUS UNUM” directly underneath, and the denomination of “ONE DOLLAR” at the bottom of the coin.
- This issue features the mint mark “S” for the San Francisco Mint just above the date.

I have to agree with another reviewer that these 1971's are not in as good of condition as the 1972's. There are so many small scratches that it greatly detracts from the beauty of the coin, despite the mirror-like finish. Glad I didn't buy a whole bunch of these. If you're looking for an Ike dollar in near pristine condition, you probably won't find one here. That said, I don't feel I got ripped off. Just not quite what I was expecting. Some people obviously don't protect collector coins so they end up looking a bit worn. These don't come in the original mint packaging so I should have guessed they'd not be so great.

I got the coin today and let me say, it is a very nice coin, I only give it 4 stars because I can't give a 4.5 and while it is clearly uncirculated, and proof spec, it shows natural signs of very light tarnishing around the edges spreading inward causing the mirror finish to ever so slightly cloud the further away from center you go. I wouldn't have been able to tell if I also hadn't got a 1976 Gem (S) Ike in the same shipment that was mirror like with no tarnish. The back while having slight tarnish on the rim, has full a mirror like finish and is beautiful... Bottom line: I'm certainly keeping it, if it continues to darken around the edge it may turn out to look quite unique down the road (I collect oddball toned/patina'd coins as well)

I bought 5 of these coins and received them today, and all I can say, these coins are amazing, absolutely beautiful. I also bought BU Ike's at the same time and they are also great coins, but by far these are way prettier. The mirror finish is just awesome. Matter of fact, I think I'm going to order more this weekend. When they say 2 day shipping they mean 2 day shipping. very satisfied

I bought this Gem proof and another 72 Gem proof. This one did not even compare to the others condition. Def not a Gem in my opinion. I'll post a pic. I even left a comment to please pick a nice Gem for me cause I have received a few BU's from APMEX that were absolutely not BU.
