The Gold American Eagle series was established by the U.S. Congress in 1986 to be the first government-backed bullion created by the U.S. Mint for investment purposes. American Gold Eagle Coins
First authorized by Congress in 1986, the Gold American Eagle series has become one of the most popular bullion pieces worldwide. These are the first Gold coins backed by the United States government with bullion investment purposes in mind. On the obverse is a design modeled after Saint Gaudens' design 1907 $20 Double Eagle design. All American Gold Eagle coins are .9167 fine Gold, with Copper and Silver added to improve the wear and durability of these coins.

MintDirect® Premier + PCGS FirstStrike®
APMEX, in partnership with PCGS, offers PCGS FirstStrike® designation to this MintDirect® Premier coin. PCGS recognizes these 2022 MintDirect® Premier Gold Eagles as eligible for FirstStrike® if they are submitted for grading in their original sealed packaging. The sealing process encloses the coin and authentication card in tamper evident packaging that guarantees your investment. The coin in the tamper evident package is removed from the machine and checked to validate the packaging quality meets our exacting standards.
APMEX, through this process, guarantees the coins you will receive is authentic and in the condition they were in when they left the United States Mint. The MintDirect® process gives investors peace of mind about their purchase when they know that they can buy, hold or sell an authentic coin.
