The minting of Silver Morgan Dollars was a result of the Bland-Allison Act that reinstated Silver as legal tender in February 1878. Before 1878, production of Silver Dollars and other Silver coinage had been halted under the Coinage Act of 1873, and this left Gold as the standard economic unit of account. Silver coins had become devalued for multiple reasons, including the discovery of the largest Silver vein in world history. By 1878, Congress decided that U.S. coins should be both Silver and Gold, and therefore, Congress passed the Bland-Allison Act, which required the U.S. Treasury to purchase a fixed amount of each month to be minted into Silver coinage.

    The U.S. Mint
The U.S. Mint has been the producer of some of the most iconic coins in U.S. history. The Morgan Dollar series is another testament to the Mint’s craftsmanship, offering a timeless piece of American numismatic heritage.

Nice Coin!

Ordered my first random Morgan and got a beautifully toned 1880-S in great condition; definitely worth more than what I paid for the random coin. Could not be happier and will add one of these to my orders every now and then.

Nice Morgan's for the price!

Was this review helpful? Yes/ No

I'm a collector of Morgan Dollars. Most of which are slabbed. But sometimes you want some that you don't feel guilty picking up and touching. I thought the advertised grade was spot on... No slicks or culls. Had a great assortment of dates, even an 1878. Only a couple 1900+ coins. Highly recommend and a good value.

Random year XF Morgan Dollars

Was this review helpful? Yes/ No

Bought 10, quality up to specifications especially the 1880-o's, but they amounted to 7 out of the 10 coins. I do think APMEX could do better on the "random" part in the product title = random year!!!
