The minting of Silver Morgan Dollars was a result of the Bland-Allison Act that reinstated Silver as legal tender in February 1878. Before 1878, production of Silver Dollars and other Silver coinage had been halted under the Coinage Act of 1873, and this left Gold as the standard economic unit of account. Silver coins had become devalued for multiple reasons, including the discovery of the largest Silver vein in world history. By 1878, Congress decided that U.S. coins should be both Silver and Gold, and therefore, Congress passed the Bland-Allison Act, which required the U.S. Treasury to purchase a fixed amount of each month to be minted into Silver coinage.
The U.S. Mint
The U.S. Mint has been the producer of some of the most iconic coins in U.S. history. The Morgan Dollar series is another testament to the Mint’s craftsmanship, offering a timeless piece of American numismatic heritage. - Specifications

First of all for “cull” Morgan’s, which my LCS says hasn’t been available for years!!!, you really get a variety of dollars years (1878-1900) and conditions (dents, scratches, poor grade to XF almost AU) it is a value both for stacking and numismatics (Mints from Philadelphia, New Orleans)! And all I can says is you can see and feel the fact these coins were in our forefathers hands too.
- Pros
- Attractive Design
- Easy to Sell
- Recognized Brand
- Cons
- Common (higher mintage)
- Bottom Line
- Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.

I know these are listed as culls. The quality was very low on all these. I have ordered these before and they were much better quality the time before. Also they slipped a few 1921 Morgan’s in there also. I think I paid extra to have the earlier ones. I think I’ll just go back to my local coin store
- Pros
- Value (low premium over spot)
- Cons
- Poor Condition
- Bottom Line
- No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Every Christmas I give my grandkids & great-grandkids a silver round (14 / holiday). I ordered these Morgans "just to see" if these would be a good alternative to one ounce rounds. I was delighted. 3 were more worn than I would want to give. The others were in excellent gift giving shape. The older kids will be delighted as they hold a piece of history in their hands. I just ordered some of APMEX's cull grade Peace Dollars to have a variety ready to give at Christmas. As always APMEX has proven itself as a superior PM dealer. Thank you, APMEX.
- Pros
- Attractive Design
- Value (low premium over spot)
- Bottom Line
- Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.

Picked up a roll of these culls and was not at all disappointed. There are a few slicks, hard dents, and gashes but there were a couple I would call VF and several VG. I'll be buying more of these.

- Value (low premium over spot)
- Attractive Design
- Collectible (lower mintage)
- Easy to Sell
- Bottom Line
- Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.
